Great Expectations is Dickens’ thirteenth novel, and it tells the story of Pip, an orphan receiving an education.

Pip is working as a blacksmith’s apprentice in the countryside, when he suddenly inherits a large fortune. He moves to London with his fortune and enters high society. The themes in the book are ambition, loyalty, self-improvement, wealth and class.

This book is considered a classic as the characters are written to be extremely relatable in their experiences of alienation & family, success & failure and loneliness & self-discovery.
