Are you looking for ways to save money? If so, then you’ve come to the right place! We’ve created some practical tips to help you save thousands of pounds each year! Don’t believe us? Then let’s get started and we’ll show you how it’s possible!

1). Decide to Spend No Money One Day Each Week

Wow, what a pleasant way to start the list! We thought this was an important tip to share with you. While it may feel painful, it’s actually not that bad. Consider choosing one day each week to spend no money. This is pretty simple, yet it can be challenging.

Most of us spend money every day in one way or another. It might be that we enjoy our favourite coffee or treats each day. Stop and think about what you spend money on each day. You’ll be surprised.

Now, see if you can choose one day to not spend on a certain snack or other expense just one day a week. Then commit to not spending on that day. The money you would have normally spent can be put away in a savings account.

Even if this amount is small, over the months you’ll see how it quickly adds up! Plus, learning not to spend money is a great lesson we could all use.

2). Lower Your Bills

Take the time to use a comparison site to see if you can lower your energy bills or even switch broadband providers. You could save a ton of money this way. And switching is easy and free. You just have to make sure to check for any contract exit fees that may apply for leaving contract early.

3). Get Cash Back

Do you shop online quite a bit? Then why not get money back by using cashback sites? You can choose to join sites such as Swagbucks, Topcashback, or Quidco. Then use them every time you shop online. It’s possible to save a surprising amount of money in this way.

Not only can you get cash back, but you can also find other deals for things such as free food, cleaning products, pet food, baby needs, and more. These are usually found on supermarket cashback apps.

4). Do Some Skimming

No, we don’t mean illegal activities! Don’t worry! What we mean is “skim” about 10% of money that comes in for your birthday, your wages, and more. Take this and rather than spending it, put it right into your savings account. Let it grow there for unexpected expenses, a trip to your dream destination, and more.

Just think of it! If you can squirrel away £15 a month, you’ll be £180 richer in twelve months!

5). Save Money on Apps

If you have a mobile phone or a tablet, it’s very tempting to buy every new and great app that comes along. However, these can really suck up a lot of money, too. Instead of paying for apps, looks for those that are free or use Amazon’s Underground service to find premium apps for free or at reduced prices!

This way you can have access to your favourite premium games, or even premium apps for work. You can have the entire Office Suite on your phone for as little as £9.99.

6). Get Rid of Your TV License

Are you paying for a TV License but not watching live broadcasts? If so, you may be wasting some money! If you have broadband and mostly depend on streaming services for entertainment, then you may be able to get rid of your TV License.

7). Get Everything for Five Pounds

You read that right! Check out this site called Everything5Pounds. Here you can find all kinds of things from clothing, housewares and more for £5. And consider that many of the items on this site is high-quality.

You may find your favourite high-street brands on this site, because they sell unsold stock from other stores. What a great and fun way to save money but enjoy your favourite brands at the same time!

8). Check Amazon’s Warehouse

Here’s another way to enjoy almost everything for lower prices! Check out Amazon’s Warehouse! Keep in mind that the stock varies all the time. In addition, some items are returns, but Amazon stands by their guarantees, nonetheless.

9). Freeze Your Food

Do you find that you throw out a lot of fun that’s uneaten? You’re not alone. This is a common issue for many households in the UK. Instead of throwing food away, then look to free it before it goes bad.

People are surprised to find out how many foods can be frozen. Think about that chocolate cake you baked. Rather than throwing the rest out, why not put it in the freezer? The same goes for things such as pancakes, muffins, cookies and more.

When freezing your foods, it’s important to store them correctly. This means wrapping them in protective cling film and/or freezer bags. Then put them in the freezer. When you want to enjoy those foods, then just carefully defrost them in the microwave.

You can also freeze milk, cheese, bananas, berries, and so much more!

10). Save on Lunches

Buying lunch is a huge expense that quickly adds up. To save on lunches out, consider becoming more organised with your cooking. This means that you would need to cook extra on the weekends, or the night before, and then use the extra food for your lunches.

This is a great way to save hundreds of pounds over the course of the year.

11). Don’t Shop When You’re Hungry

What happens when you shop and you’re hungry? You got it—you buy more than you need. If you really need to go out shopping and you’re feeling a little hungry, then have a small snack before you go. That way you won’t be tempted by foods and that look and sound good as you shop.

Another idea is to only shop once a week (when you’re not hungry), and then you can avoid those impulse buys, which quickly drain your wallet!

There you have it! We promised it was possible to save money, even when things are tight. By using a combination of these tips, you can literally save hundreds each year!
